Campsite Alsace Lorraine

First come and walk in the footsteps of French History. Pitch your tent on one of the campsites in Lorraine and visit the iconic places from the First World War: Verdun and the Global Centre for Peace, the ossuary in Douaumont, the remains of the Maginot Line, Vaux Fort, etc.

Then head for Strasbourg and the cathedral. Explore the old town, classified a World Heritage site by UNESCO and admire the many half-timbered houses which are so characteristic of this region.

If you feel like it, why not set off on the Wine Route of Alsace and move from campsite to campsite, discovering the most prestigious of grape varieties along the way. Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr and Obernai are not-to-be-missed, just as much for the quality of their wines as for the incredible setting with vines as far as the eye can see. From there, head back towards Lorraine and more specifically, to the Vosges. If you like long hiking trails, you will love walking through the mountains in Saint-Dié, Gérardmer or Remiremont.

Carry on to Nancy, the main town in the Meurthe-et-Moselle. Wander across Place Stanislas and stroll around the winding streets of the old town.

Finally, the last part of your exploration of Lorraine and Alsace will take you to see the rivers of these two regions: the Meuse on one side, and the Rhine on the other. Hop aboard a boat and admire the beauty of the landscapes which are often overlooked by visitors to this area.
